Dear Neighbors,
Serving the Frogtown, Summit-University, historic Rondo, Hamline-Midway, Cathedral Hill and North End neighborhoods in the Minnesota House of Representatives has been an incredible honor the last 11 years. In our community, we care about one another, and no matter the difficulties before us, we’re all invested in the success of not just ourselves and our families, but our neighbors and the community at large. Every day, I’ve approached my work with this mindset to remove barriers, eliminate inequities, and create new opportunities for everyone.
As Commissioner Carter moves forward, our community will deserve a new voice uniquely equipped to step right in and navigate complex systems and be responsive to the community. My experience at the State Capitol – including chairing the House Health and Human Services Policy Committee – uniquely prepares me for the role, including my work to protect children in the child welfare system, strengthen public health, improve access to economic assistance for families, fight for affordable housing, create new economic opportunities for all, and expand women’s rights. Beyond my work at the Legislature, I know firsthand how important these systems are as a bridge towards our community’s economic security. My personal experience with experiencing homelessness, having to rely on public assistance to provide for my own family, and dedication towards putting families first is what sets me apart as a leader I will be prepared to lead us through this transition on day one and am best positioned to continue to get work done for our district and this community.
While my work at the Capitol has been incredibly rewarding, this is an opportunity to apply my talents and experience in new ways to deliver for our community. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your support to serve on the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. Your support, your participation, and your voice in our political process are deeply valued.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with your priorities, concerns, questions, and ideas for how we can improve the way of life for people, families, and businesses. I look forward to connecting with you soon. The past couple of years haven’t been easy, and it’s apparent we still have challenges to overcome. Together, I believe we are stronger, and I am excited for the journey ahead. By pulling together as neighbors, we can remove barriers to success, create new opportunities, and deliver a brighter future for everyone in our community. Stay tuned, there’s more information coming soon.
Sincerely,
Rena Moran
